LRA host Chinese delegation
1st September, 2011
Land Research Associates today hosted a visit from a delegation of local government heads from Yunnan Province in south-west China. They came to discuss issues of soil protection from damage and erosion. Two presentations were given, interactively translated into Mandarin Chinese by an interpreter accompanying the delegation:
| Bob Palmer: |
Effect of modern agricultural land management on soil and erosion risk. |
| Malcolm Reeve: |
Protection and reinstatement of soils disturbed by construction and mineral working. |
There were clear comparisons with experience in China but, during discussions, the visitors expressed surprise that UK Codes of Practice for protecting soils were not legally binding.
